GeoRSS Viewer/Reader in AIR
Just did a quick wrapper around the GeoRSS reader classes, got GeoFeeder; then simply couldn’t stop to improve it.
Try any GeoRSS feed you know of, but be aware: every feed sucessfully parsed will be “recorded” for all other users to see.
See the GeoFeeder page for details.

Hi,
This looks like a great tool. How do you add geo rss tags to a web site so that it will appear in your tool>

I figured it out by using http://www.geonames.org/rss-to-georss-converter.html. I used their webservice to convert the rss to georss feed but needed to add “type=atom_1.0″.
How do you get rid of items in the database that don’t work?

Now that I’ve added 2 web sites using the rss-to-georss converter, I’m curious why only certain items (in this case Wordpress posts) appear on the map. Can you explain? None of the posts have any geo tagging information at all.

the geonames service tries to add geographic information based upon country/city/street info found in the original feed. sometimes it works, sometimes not, sometimes takes very long to process.
the amount of information depends on the tools used. feeds support (more or less) only a headline and a descriptive text. generic tools only use title/description, custom tools pack complete webpages (including images) into the description (it can hold HTML!!). see the Earthquake/USGS… feeds.
i do the feed administration by hand …

Okay, I understand. However, I used that tool on sustainabledelco.org/feed/ because I got an error using your tool that said “Feed error: could not fine geographic information”. So, now my question is what do I need to add to that blog to allow your tool to recognize it? A wordpress plugin like geo-mashup?
Thank you, jim

Geo-mashup seems to do much more: it allows you to include maps in your blog. But the important feature is: “GeoRSS automatically added to feeds”
I’m using the “GeoPress”-plugin.
